Tang Yuan
Tang Yuan is the necessary food when Winter solstice. The name of Tang Yuan means to have a reunion (Tuan Yuan) and satisfactory (Yuan Man). Eating Tang Yuan also means we grow up 1 year old again. It is necessary we need to cook Tang Yuan to pray our ancestor. The shape of Tang Yuan is round shape, but for young generation they are more preferring to make the shape become cute, animal, cartoon.
Materials
-50g Glutinous Rice Flour
-20g Bean paste Filling
-Seasoning (cocoa powder. Green tea powder, purple sweet potato powder)
-Warm water
-Cooker
Step
1. Pour the Glutinous Rice Flour into the bowl, add warm water in portions.
2. Knead into dough for half an hour after cooling slightly.
3. Add green tea powder, cocoa powder, and purple potato puree to knead dough into different colours. (If you add purple potato puree, add some glutinous rice flour to neutralize it.) Reserve a piece of dough of the original colour.
4. Take a small piece of dough about twice the size of the red bean paste dumpling, flatten it, and put on the red bean paste filling.
5. Wrap the red bean paste, and slowly push the dough up until the red bean paste is wrapped. Let it become a small ball.
6. Add the water and brown sugar into the soup pot, cooking until it is boiling and add the Pandan leaves.
7. Use another soup pot to cook the Tang Yuan until it cooked (floating up to the surface)
8. Put the Tang Yuan into the brown sugar soup. (step 7)
Eat and Taste
The taste of tangyuan can be salt or in sweet. If the internal filling of the tangyuan is the red bean or peanut, the taste will be sweet whereas if the internal filling is meat then the taste will be salt. Besides, look to how to cook the Tang Yuan. This is one of normal and basic way for us to cook Tang Yuan with ginger soup. It will make our body become warm while winter.
